There are many temples in Lieyu, and the LieNu Temple is one of the most prosperous ones! The LieNu Temple is located at the southwest end of Qingqi Village in Lieyu, and is also called the Wang Xian Gu Temple. The original name of the LieNu Temple was "Zhengjie Shrine," which enshrines Wang Xian Gu. Her original name was Wang Yulan, from Xiamen. According to legend, one day, when Wang Yulan was picking oysters at the seaside at noon, she was harassed and abused, and finally drowned in the sea. The next day, her body drifted to the beach at Guishan in Lieyu, where it was found and buried by a soldier surnamed Liu from the local coastal defense forces. Later, Wang Yulan appeared in a dream to explain her experiences. Upon hearing this, the soldiers and villagers were deeply moved. Thus, in 1956, they raised funds and had the 81st Army stationed in Lieyu build a temple for her. It then became a place of寄托 for the soldiers and local villagers. The LieNu Temple is always crowded with worshippers, and prayers are always answered. After being renovated and expanded, it has reached its current scale and has become a well-known tourist attraction in Lieyu, attracting many people to come and pray and make wishes. If your wishes come true, remember to return to fulfill your vows!
