Simplified Chinese West Jih Island, also known as West Jih Island, is an island in the Penghu archipelago of Taiwan. It is an important strategic point on the Taiwan–Penghu shipping lane. Administratively it used to belong to West Jih Village in Wang'an Township, Penghu County (now a deserted village). It is now part of the Penghu South Four Islands Marine National Park (which includes Dong Ji Island, West Jih Island, Dong Yu Ping Island, and Xiu Yu Ping Island). It is about 4.5 km from Dong Ji Island. Because West Jih is remote and has poor transportation, residents have difficulty making a living, leading to a sharp population decline. On July 1, 1978, the government assisted the village relocation.
