Established in 1970, it is one of the few famous dessert stalls in Yan San Night Market. The glutinous rice cakes are hand-molded and boiled in a pot of boiling sugar water, bubbling and rolling, becoming soft, white, and plump, creating a very soothing scene. Each glutinous rice cake is fully soaked in water and sugar aroma, appearing white, round, and full, then drained and sprinkled with peanut powder and sesame powder, offering an appealing appearance, delicious fragrance, and rich texture. Originally, the grilled glutinous rice cake was only popular in winter. In summer, the owner had an idea to pair it with crushed ice to create a perfect combination.
The grilled glutinous rice cake is cut into small pieces and mixed into crushed ice. The hot glutinous rice cake skin instantly contracts and hardens due to the cold, while the inside remains soft and tender. The combination of hot and cold, soft and hard, is further enhanced by the addition of sweet, non-melting ingredients such as peanuts, taro, red beans, and ergot, creating a unique "hot-cold ice" dessert with an unforgettable flavor.
