Zhishan Cultural Ecological Green Park (Zhishan Rock Exhibition Hall)
The Zhishan Rock has an archaeological pit where the remains of ancestors from about 2,500 years ago were excavated, and it contains many important treasures and archaeological resources. Over the course of 6,000 years, it has developed into seven cultural layers, making it a living archaeological classroom. In 1896, an incident occurred where an armed force attacked Japanese teachers, known as the "Zhishan Rock Incident" in history. After the country's liberation, it was also a military stronghold for the intelligence bureau. In recent years, under the planning of the Taipei City Cultural Bureau, the ammunition depot here was transformed into an exhibition hall. In addition to enjoying the natural environment along the natural trail of Zhishan, the public can also visit this exhibition hall to learn about the cultural background of Zhishan and explore the deepest secrets of Taipei City.
The Zhishan Rock Exhibition Hall is divided into different sections, integrating Zhishan's natural ecology and geological landscape. The first floor is a physical exhibition room: stratification models, clearly showing the patterns of strata and the changes in each layer; full-scale models, offering a bird's-eye view of the entire Zhishan Rock; pottery restoration models, showing the evolution of tools used by the early people, from rough to refined.
The first floor has many explanation boards, such as the prehistoric archaeological corridor, introducing the process and findings of archaeology, the ecology of animals and plants, geological explanations, biological explanations, etc., allowing the public to understand the story of Zhishan. The second floor is a multi-media classroom, including a DIY classroom, creative painting activities, allowing visitors to use their own creativity, and a screening room where ecological films are regularly shown, along with observation windows.
In addition, there is also a small broadcasting experience room where children can experience the fun of reporting news. The establishment of the exhibition hall is the first step in preserving the culture of Zhishan Rock. During the visit, awakening people's attention and emotion towards this land is the most important value of the exhibition hall.
