Varami Trail is located in Nanan, Yuli, Hualien. The path from the trailhead to Varami Shelter is approximately 13.5 kilometers, featuring minimal climbing and is easy walking. The name "Varami" originates from the Bunun word for fern, indicating the shady and damp environment of area, offering a very refreshing and cool feel during summer. In winter, the broadleaf trees begin to turn red and yellow, resulting in a visually rich, multilayered forest scenery with vibrant colors. Along the Varami Trail, there is the Shafeng Waterfall; while enjoying the refreshing cascade, visitors may also take a brief rest at the pavilion nearby. Continuing along the trail 4.5 kilometers leads to "Jiaxin," a 5-star camping area favored by hikers. Jiaxin now has fully constructed facilities such as rest pavilions, wash stations, and bathrooms free for campers. To further explore the trail beyond this point, hikers must first obtain mountain access and park entry permits to reach the 13.5-kilometer-long Varami Shelter. Access to the shelter also requires an application. Thus, hiking enthusiasts can plan an overnight stay at the Varami Trail, fully experiencing this trail's natural beauty over a two-day journey.
