Within the drama lies a universe; in the snap of a finger, a thousand years unfold.
Once the plain yet elegant Huwei County Office, the building was officially declared a historic site in 2001 and reborn as the puppet-theater museum steeped in local culture. Inside, every sect of glove-puppetry, its characters, cultural tales, and historical evolution are introduced in detail; classic puppets from around the world, shadow figures that hold ancient memories, resplendent golden stages, and critically acclaimed interactive shows—all perfect for visiting with elders, traveling together through the tunnel of puppet-theater time!
When Taiwan’s pride, glove-puppetry, is mentioned, one must speak of its hometown, Huwei Township, Yunlin. Let us give a special introduction to the Yunlin Glove-Puppetry Museum right here in Huwei. The museum exhibits the development history of glove-puppetry and displays static puppets, allowing the public to understand the evolution of traditional puppetry and to preserve it so this cultural heritage is not lost. The museum’s establishment gives everyone a place to absorb puppet-theater culture, learn its past, and come to appreciate the traditional art of glove-puppetry.
