The Beishan Cliff stands like a red wall on the northern coast of Guningtou. The stand of casuarina trees at the cliff top facing the wind, and the rows of anti-invasion piles along the coastline, reveal its rugged terrain. During the fierce battle of Guningtou in 1949, the brutal scenes between the Kuomintang and the Communist forces have become history. The Guningtou War History Museum displays a large oil painting commemorating this battlefield. Today, the area offers new tourism opportunities with its unique cat stone landscape, peaceful beaches, famous oyster fields, and horseshoe crab protection areas.
