During the restoration process, Jiamu Ju adhered to the principle of faithful reconstruction at every step. Wherever timber framing had rotted, we replaced it with wood of the same species and repaired every decayed beam and column using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery. On elements that had loosened but were still serviceable, we added structural reinforcement, preserving the original craftsmanship of the wooden house while enhancing its safety. Once the distinctive local building has been restored, it will serve as a showcase platform for Chiayi’s cultural-creative workers, artists, and collectors, allowing the public to interact directly with creators. Through this exhibition space, related workshops can also be offered, and a dedicated information platform will be used to promote Chiayi’s local cultural-creative industries.
