"Xujiu Puppet Theater" (founded in 1992) is the first puppet theater-themed restaurant in Taiwan. Over the past 20 years, the "Taiwan Puppet Theater Banquet" has attracted guests from around the world to get close to Taiwan's culture and cuisine, helping both locals and foreigners understand and get closer to the traditional art that Taiwanese people are most familiar with but have not touched for a long time, and the strong sense of Taiwan.
It has hosted important political figures from friendly countries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (President of the Republic of Nauru, Vice Prime Minister of Belize, El Salvador, Paraguay, President of the Palau Legislative Assembly...), and was a recommended tourist attraction for the 2017 World University Games. It has received continuous media coverage and recommendations (2007 Japan Airlines JAA recommended as a first-time visit to Taiwan attraction for Japanese, 2011 CTNews "Hu Wanling's Century of Splendor", 2013 TLC in the United States reported as "World's Weirdest Restaurants").
In order to allow people of all ages from both inside and outside the country to enjoy and experience, the traditional art of puppet theater, which was selected as the first place of "Taiwan's Image" by the Executive Yuan in 2006, has established a troupe of the same name. The troupe mainly engages in international, cultural, educational, and entertainment performances, and is well known for its performance features of "interaction, surprise, laughter, and experience". It has innovatively launched "interactive puppet theater" and uses four types of puppets: hand, golden light, television, and cosplay. It is rare for the entire performance to be in Mandarin and English, making the traditional puppet art more enriched and easy to understand. Especially breaking taboos, guiding guests to perform on stage, revealing the secrets of the backstage and experiencing the fun of performance, changing the stereotypical image of puppet theater. Therefore, it has been continuously invited to perform at international banquets and tourism programs both domestically and internationally (Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, mainland China, Japan...) for various foreign dignitaries and domestic cultural and artistic activities.
