With his passion for puppetry art, Mr. Lin Ching-fu, chairman of the Taitung Art and Culture Foundation, has donated his personal collection of puppetry figures accumulated over several decades, hoping that the Taipei City Government will establish a permanent place for their preservation and exhibition. After careful planning by the Taipei City Government's Cultural Bureau, these precious cultural relics finally found a home in the "Weijing Group Jinghua City Community Feedback Plan". The "Taipei Puppet Museum", which combines the functions of puppet exhibitions, performances, teaching, and collections, was officially opened in August 2004. The Taipei Puppet Museum advocates "Love to be creative, love to play with puppets", divided into four sections: "Bag of Traditions - Shadow Puppetry Area", "Threads of Details - String Puppetry Area", "Shadows and Reflections - Leather Shadow Puppetry Area", "Puppet Kaleidoscope - Interactive Experience Area", as well as "Puppet DIY Courses". It introduces the history and development of traditional and modern puppetry in Taiwan, encouraging people to use their creativity and everyday materials to create their own traditional cloth puppets, leather shadow puppets, string puppets and various modern puppets. Bridging traditional and modern, combining Eastern and Western puppetry art, the Taipei Puppet Museum has become the best public space for friends at home and abroad to get to know, appreciate, and play with puppets.
