Bolero, established in 1934, is one of the oldest Western restaurants in Taiwan. For more than 80 years, it has not only remained strong but also grown into two branches. Although it is a Western restaurant, it is full of local flavor. The food is served in stainless steel containers similar to those used in Taiwan's railway bento boxes. The seating arrangement is similar to the seats in the old Taiwan Railway express trains. Its signature dish, the French duck rice, resembles a duck meat stew rice. The curry is a sweet Japanese-style curry. In addition to white rice, it also comes with Taiwanese pickled vegetables and pork floss. Back then, the unique charm of Bolero, which combined Taiwanese and Japanese elements, attracted many famous people who became regular customers, such as painters Yang San-lang, Kuo Hsueh-hu, and Hung Jui-lin, as well as musician Lü Chuan-sheng.
