"Rice is the emperor," is a well-known saying among people. Eating at this canteen is meant to give customers this feeling. The canteen owner is a country boy from Yilan, carrying his own dreams, and cherishing the authentic taste of Taiwan's land. Therefore, he has made the traditional characteristics of local snacks the spirit of the canteen, aiming to let everyone taste the authentic and traditional flavors of Taiwan's land. The decoration of the store gives a traditional old-style feeling, with wooden tables and benches, red brick walls and stone decorations. The owner says this is nature. Although traditional dishes have faced challenges due to changes in modern people's eating habits, the owner still insists on making ingredients by hand, using traditional techniques to cook "hand-made dishes," maintaining the original "old-style taste." For example, the "yam-flavored spare ribs" are crispy spare ribs cooked with large pieces of yam, allowing the yam's color and fragrance to penetrate the meat. The outer layer has a sandy and sticky texture of yam, enhancing the sweetness of the spare ribs, making them particularly tender. The most special dish is the "Yilan Western Lu Rou," which is the traditional old-style "vegetable soup" popular in Yilan. Usually, it is based on large cabbages, with ingredients and thickened sauce, and a bit of black vinegar is added. It has a sweet and sour taste, which is very good with rice, making it a traditional and authentic Yilan delicacy. The ingredients used here are carefully selected, the store's hygiene rating is top-notch, and it is an excellent restaurant that has passed GSP, as well as a model no-smoke restaurant, ensuring that every customer who comes to eat can enjoy the highest quality.
