Jin Penglai, a traditional Taiwanese restaurant located on Tiantmu East Road in Shilin, originated in Beidou in the 1960s. It is family-run, initially serving restaurant dishes that go well with alcoholic beverages, so the flavor is relatively strong. The third-generation chef still uses the family's secret recipe, such as the signature dish, "Pork Ribs Fry," which uses the abdominal ribs of Taiwanese pigs, fried twice at different oil temperatures to retain moisture while making the outside crispy. The "Fotiaoqiang" uses more than ten ingredients simmered together, and adds the pork ribs fry, making its flavor and texture particularly rich and worth trying.
