140 Hill Park

2017-07-05
140 High Park is located within the Wanmei Village of Wenshan District, Taipei City, on the north side of Wanning Street, between Wanning Street and the second section of Wanmei Street. It is a hilly area with the highest elevation being Fuzi Jiao Hill (Fuzi Gan Hill) at 138 meters. The panoramic view from the summit is vast. In 1993, the Wenshan (Mushan) No. 80 Park was built, and in 1996, the Wenshan (Mushan) No. 30 Park was also built. These two parks are collectively known as "140 High Park." The environment is quiet and picturesque, with fresh air, bird songs, and cicadas' chirping. Compared to the hustle and bustle of the city below, it is a different world, and has become a popular place for nearby residents to climb the mountain and enjoy the springtime scenery. The park has two access points, located next to No. 125 and No. 225 on Wanning Street. Following the winding wooden steps upward, the path changes to a gravel staircase after reaching the ridge. Walking along the ridge, the forest is rich in variety. There are three scenic platforms and one pavilion along the way, offering excellent views, allowing visitors to look down at the scenery below, and see the Taipei 101 Building and the lights of the city. It is also a great place to stargaze and enjoy the moonlight. To create a sustainable ecological environment, the park was developed while preserving the original landscape as much as possible, avoiding destruction of animal and plant habitats. Only essential facilities and trails are set up in the park, connecting surrounding green areas, providing citizens with a natural place for exercise and recreation. The park has a simple filtration pool made of stone circles to filter the water, and it has successfully attracted frogs, whose loud croaks enhance the tranquility. This park also has the only "Mountain Signage Guide Map" in Taipei City, allowing visitors to learn about the mountains and their names and elevations. There are also simple fitness facilities, exercise equipment, and stretching chairs. While enjoying the mountain views, visitors can also experience the pleasure of stretching their muscles in the quiet mountain.
