Dakeng Scenic Area - Mountain Trail Guide
Dakeng Scenic Area is an important leisure destination for the spiritual relaxation of Taichung citizens, a place for hikers to connect with nature and stay fit, and a popular tourist attraction in central Taiwan. On regular days or holidays, it is common to see groups of friends and families enjoying the scenery together, making it a shared backyard for the people of Taichung. The most distinctive feature of the area is its 14 mountain trails. Trails 1 to 8 were opened in the early 1970s, built according to the natural terrain of Dakeng Mountain and its streams, with the highest elevation being 859 meters at Toukoshan. Trail 9 was opened in December 2005, Trail 10 was completed in March 2008, and Trail 9-1 was completed in November 2013.
**Trail 6 Details**
- **Length**: Approximately 1.7 kilometers, suitable for people of all ages.
- **Entrances**: There are two entry points. One is accessible via Sung Chik Road, following the industrial road to the Trail 6 parking lot, and then ascending. The other entrance is via Kuang Hsi Lane, leading directly to the Guanyin Pavilion, from which the trail continues.
- **Features**: This trail has a gentle slope, and the endpoint offers access to the Wind Stone Park, where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the Fengyuan area and the environmentally friendly smokestacks of Taichung's Houli District. Along the way, there is a Guanyin Pavilion with a white Guanyin statue, a popular spot for worship. Additionally, there are children's playgrounds and gazebos.
