Located in Dinglan, it is called Xiangshan Diamond Temple because it was built on Xiangshan, which has a geographical shape resembling an elephant. The main deity enshrined here is the Bodhisattva Guanyin. In China, the worship of Guanyin began in the first century BCE with the introduction of Buddhism, and it was introduced into Korea and Japan in the middle of the 7th century. The belief in Guanyin also spread to Tibet in the 7th century, mainly in the form of Four-Armed Guanyin, and the Dalai Lama is considered to be its reincarnation. Before the Song Dynasty, Guanyin was depicted as a male figure. The Avatamsaka Sutra describes Guanyin as a brave husband, and the Sutra of the Compassionate One refers to him as a good young man. Later, in response to the wishes of the vast number of believers, Guanyin was transformed into a female image, using the motherly love and compassion of women to save and enlighten sentient beings.
