Fuzhou Mountain Park

2017-07-05
台北市文山區臥龍街、辛亥路
Fuzhou Mountain Park is about 105 meters in elevation, located beside the Taipei Connection Route of the North 2nd Expressway. Before its development, it was the 9th Public Cemetery of Dahan District in the city. Due to its location along a major traffic route with many passing vehicles, it affected the city's appearance. After considering the need to improve and beautify the landscape, and to create a good impression of the city, the city government planned to transform the Fuzhou Mountain (Dahan 9th) Public Cemetery into a recreational park in 1995. The park includes afforestation, hiking trails, pavilions, and other scenic facilities to beautify the city, increase leisure space for residents, and serve as a forest ecological recreation park for the city's sloped land restoration. In order to consider the safety of the sloped land and the quality of the environment, the park emphasizes natural ecological conservation. Except for essential soil and water conservation and disaster prevention facilities, it avoids damaging the original terrain and landscape. The planning principle is to minimize artificial facilities and make them easy to maintain. According to the existing slope, the park has hiking trails (wooden boardwalks) or ecological roads (gravel paths), serving as a buffer zone between the residential area and the park, with soil and water conservation functions. The park covers an area of 184,984 square meters and was completed in three stages, with its development completed in 1999. The park area is 172,488 square meters, and it was transferred to the Park Bureau for management and maintenance in 2001, and named Fuzhou Mountain Park. The park has four main entrances (two on Wulong Street and two on Xinhai Road) connected to the hiking trails. Residents can follow the trails to reach the high platforms at elevations of 60, 93, and 105, and continue to the south to "Zhongpu Mountain" or to the west to "Fuyang Natural Ecological Park." Along the way, they can see the Taipei 101 Building and the city's scenery, making it the best place for mountain climbing and recreation in the city.
