Dakeng Scenic Area - Mountain Trail Guide
The Dakeng Scenic Area is an important leisure destination for the spiritual and mental well-being of Taichung citizens, a popular spot for hiking and fitness, and one of the most famous tourist attractions in central Taiwan. On regular days or holidays, it is common to see groups of friends and families exploring the area together, making it a shared backyard for the people of Taichung.
The most distinctive feature of the area is its 14 mountain trails. Trails 1 to 8 were opened in the early 1970s and were built according to the natural terrain of Dakeng Mountain and its streams. The highest elevation reaches 859 meters at Touqian Mountain. Trail 9 was opened in December 2005, Trail 10 was completed in March 2008, and Trail 9-1 was completed in November 2013.
Trail 3 Details:
- Length: Approximately 1.3 kilometers, suitable for ecological education.
- Trailhead: From the Dakeng Roundabout, turn right onto Hengkeng Lane, then left onto Liankeng Lane, passing the parking lot and heading upwards.
- Special Features: This trail is rich in natural ecological resources, including various bird species, plants, animals, and insects. Informational signs about the plants are provided along the trail for public education and understanding.
