Dihua Street is well known for its New Year goods. The Dihua Street that people are familiar with is located in the first section of Dihua Street, south of the Taipei Bridge. This area is part of Daidai Cheng, witnessing the development history of Taiwan's international trade and commerce. From the late Qing Dynasty to the early Japanese colonial period, the trade activities in Daidai Cheng mainly focused on general merchandise and tea shops. After the restoration, it became a gathering place for general merchandise, traditional Chinese medicine, and textile wholesalers. To this day, Dihua Street still basically maintains its original appearance without significant changes. Whenever the traditional holidays arrive, this place is always crowded with people. In 2008, the government planned to expand the Dihua commercial area, including the area along Minsheng West Road and Nanjing West Road up to Civic Avenue, as well as the Ningxia Night Market and the area near the back railway station, making the merchants and products more diversified. In the future, people will have more choices when buying New Year goods.
