Shu Hua Memorial Paper Museum

2017-11-29
台北市中山區長安東路二段68號
Since Cai Lun of the Eastern Han Dynasty used tree bark, hemp heads, and old cloth to make paper, with the evolution of technology, it gradually improved into various kinds of exquisite paper. Mr. Chen Shuhuo, the founder of Changchun Cotton Paper Factory, after decades of solid efforts, felt the regret that "paper, which originated from Chinese culture, has not been promoted in modern times," and thus made a vow to establish a paper museum. After five years of preparation, the Shuhuo Memorial Paper Museum was officially opened to the public in October 1995. The first floor is divided into a store and a hand papermaking demonstration workshop. It sells various contemporary design-related products and regularly introduces theme products. The demonstration workshop simulates the manual papermaking process, allowing visitors to understand it. The second floor is currently an exhibition hall, accepting exhibition applications from all sectors. The third floor is the paper science experiment area, where parents and children can learn about paper through interaction and sensory experiences. The fourth floor is the papermaking experience area, where everyone can make their own paper and take it home. There are also recycling paper and environmental education promotion here, encouraging people to cherish the Earth's resources.
