The Shan Jia area was originally named "Shan Zai Jiao" and dates back to the Qing dynasty, when it belonged to the Hai Shan Fortress Shan Zai Jiao village. The name "Shan Zai Jiao" was given due to its location near the foot of the Gu Lou Ling mountain. During the Japanese rule, the name was changed to "Shan Zi Jiao", and after the retrocession, it was renamed "Shan Jia". The Shan Zai Jiao Park is located next to the Shulin District Land Office, along the Lu Jiao Creek, covering an area of approximately 2,600 square meters. A wooden plank road is built along the creek bank, allowing people to admire the small fish in the creek. At dusk, visitors can sit on the creek bank to enjoy the sunset view, making it a great place for leisure activities in the Shan Jia area. In recent years, the population of the Shulin Shan Jia area has increased, and to meet the demand for recreational space, the government has planned to develop the public idle land along the Lu Jiao Creek into a linear park, the Shan Zai Jiao Park. A nearly 200-meter-long wooden plank road has been built along the shore, connecting the century-old Shan Jia train station and the Hakka Art Gallery, which is filled with literary and artistic atmosphere. The park is a suitable place to visit on holidays.
