The An Tong Yue Ling Dao Trail is located in Yuli Town, Hualien County, situating on the western side of the southern section of the Coastal Mountain Range. It belongs to the western segment of the An Tong Yue Ling Dao, being the first route across the Coastal Mountain Range connecting the eastern coast with the East Rift Valley. During the Qing Dynasty, due to the "Opening Mountains and Pacifying the Indigenous Peoples" policy, General Wu Guangliang led troops to cross the Coastal Mountain Range, establishing communication between Poshiguo (Yuli) and Chengguangao (Chenggong), forming the initial Yue Ling Dao. From the Qing Dynasty to the Japanese colonial period, this path served as a vital route for marriage alliances, missionary activities, and transporting goods. After the 1970s, as highways were developed, the trail gradually fell into disuse. However, due to its rich natural resources and profound cultural-historical significance, the Forest Bureau completed its restoration in 2008. Concealed in the mountains for a long time, the trail preserves an original ecological environment where mountain mists and clouds drift endlessly, creating an ethereal paradise-like atmosphere. Today, visitors seeking tranquility and exploration may begin the hike from the Yuli An Tong Hot Spring entrance, pass through the An Tong Yue Ling Dao, and reach the Coastal Mountain Range Yue Ling Dao. The round-trip journey takes approximately three hours and offers a moderately challenging hike.
