Although the exact construction date of Dongmen Daitefu is not recorded, according to legend, it should date back to the Ming Dynasty. Initially, it mainly worshipped the Wenshi King. Later, when the Chi Shi King was touring the world on behalf of Heaven and passed through this place, the Wenshi King invited him to stay and take charge of the local affairs, jointly protecting the people. The local deity of Daitefu, the Chi Shi King, is traditionally believed to have been enshrined directly from the Yuanwei Temple in Mawang. In modern times, Daitefu was slightly renovated once in 1978, and then reconstructed in 1993 to its current appearance. Every June 18th of the lunar calendar is the day when Daitefu holds its festival. Many believers will go there to pay homage and pray for blessings.
