During the Qianlong period, the Songshan area was formerly known as "Xikou." The Xikou ferry terminal located at No. 4 Songhe Street, the water gate, has long been a commercial hub for north-south trade and a gathering place for goods. It once flourished as the starting port of the cultural development of the Xikou area in Songshan.
In December 2009, in order to extend the Blue Marine Route, the Taipei City Government completed the construction of Xikou Wharf. It also renovated the surrounding embankment and water-viewing walkway, improving the overall scenery. It also connected the Xikou Wharf with the evacuation gate No. 4 through a pedestrian walkway. Moreover, the Xikou Wharf is near the Rainbow Bridge, the Songshan Ciyu Temple, and the Raohe Night Market, which are all unique attractions. With both food and fun, it will become another new tourist landmark in your heart.
