Ye Ji Meat Porridge

2019-08-30
The porridge at "Yeh Ji" is actually not porridge, but like most savory porridge shops in Taipei, it is a soup-based rice dish. The seasoning is excellent, representing the most rustic form of savory porridge. There are no common ingredients such as green onions or cilantro. The soup is light brown, clearly indicating the addition of soy sauce. Besides the rice, the visible ingredients are only radish strips, meat balls, celery, and small shrimp. This bowl of porridge is not sloppily made because it is cheap; it contains three delicious meat balls. The base of the porridge seems to be a soup made by simmering large bones and radishes, with the flavors of mushrooms and scallions, warming to the heart. Here, you can also have some fried red rice wine meat, fresh oysters, shrimp, tofu, red rice wine eel, and pig's liver. The fried pig's liver is extremely tender and soft, and the fried red rice wine meat pairs well with pickled white radish slices.
